Online Transcript turns YouTube videos and audio files into text. This page explains, in plain language, what we do with your data. If something here is unclear, write to us at the address at the bottom.
What we collect
- Account data. If you create an account: your name and email address. Passwords are never stored in readable form — only a one-way hash.
- Sign-in with Google, GitHub or Facebook. If you use one of these, we receive your name, your email address and the numeric identifier that provider assigns you. Nothing else — we do not get your contacts, posts, repositories or friend list, and we never post anything on your behalf.
- What you submit. The YouTube URL or audio file you want transcribed.
- Payment data. If you subscribe to Pro, the payment is handled entirely by Lemon Squeezy. We never see or store your card details; we only receive whether your subscription is active.
- Technical data. Your IP address, used to verify you are not a bot and to keep a total count of transcriptions. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
What happens to your audio and your transcript
The audio is downloaded or received, transcribed, and then deleted from our servers. We do not keep a copy of your audio files. The resulting text is returned to your browser and is not stored in our database either, with one exception: if you use the Pro content tools, the generated result is cached so that asking for the same thing twice does not cost a second AI call. You can ask us to delete that cache at any time.
Who else processes your data
To deliver the service we rely on a small number of providers, each receiving only what its job requires:
- Speech-to-text. Audio is transcribed on our own infrastructure. If that service is unavailable, the audio is sent to OpenRouter as a fallback so your request does not fail.
- MiniMax. Receives the transcribed text to add punctuation and paragraphs, and to generate summaries and the Pro formats.
- Cloudflare Turnstile. Anti-bot verification before using the platform.
- Lemon Squeezy. Subscription payments.
- Google, GitHub, Facebook. Only if you choose to sign in with them.
- Brave Search. Only in the live transcription mode, and only when answering a question requires looking something up.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with anyone for advertising.
How long we keep it
Account data stays until you delete your account. Sign-in links and password reset links expire within minutes and can only be used once. Audio is deleted right after transcription.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data. Name, email and password can be changed from your profile. To delete your account and everything attached to it, write to us and we will do it.
