Why not just use YouTube's own captions
YouTube's automatic captions exist for watching, not for reading: no punctuation, no paragraphs, split into two-second fragments and locked inside the player. Copying them out leaves you with a wall of lowercase words.
Here the transcript comes out as prose you can paste straight into a document, and a second pass adds the punctuation and line breaks that make it readable.
What it costs
The free plan covers 60 minutes of audio a month with no card. That is enough for a couple of long talks or several short videos.
If you transcribe often, Pro is US$10 a month for 300 minutes on a faster engine, and Max is US$30 a month with no limit.
Frequent questions
Does it work with private or unlisted videos?
Only with videos that can be opened without signing in. A private video is not reachable from outside your account.
How long does a one-hour video take?
Usually a few minutes. The site shows an estimate before it starts, based on the actual length of the video.
Does the transcript keep the original language?
Yes. The audio is transcribed in the language it was spoken in; it is not translated unless you ask for it afterwards.
